What Is a Hongkong Prize?
A hongkong prize is an award or grant given to people for various accomplishments or achievements. There are many different hongkong prizes, including sports awards, academic awards, and cultural awards. Some of these awards are very prestigious and have large cash prizes. Other awards are more modest and only give out certificates or commemorative medals. Regardless of the size of the prize, all winners deserve to be celebrated for their accomplishments.
Several Hong Kong-based journalists received top prizes in this year’s news writing competition organized by the HKTDC and the Society of Professional Journalists. Post editor-in-chief Tammy Tam congratulated them for their “outstanding” work. “Our reporters are the best in the business in Hong Kong, and they’re the pride of this city,” she said. Reporter Sammy Heung’s series of stories on the movers and shakers in the city’s scientific field won first place in the category of Science News Reporting, while reporter Harvey Kong took third in the Business News Writing category.
The HKJC announced a merged jackpot of HK$102 million for tonight’s Lotto draw, after no ticket holder won the first prize last week. There was also a snowball jackpot of HK$20.8 million from the Triple Trio, Quartet and First 4 pools that will be added to the result.
Founded in 2022 by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation and sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize (STIP) is a yearly award to recognise pioneering scientists and innovators who have made outstanding contributions in their research field. It aims to inspire young scholars and scientists in Hong Kong to persist in innovative exploration, establish themselves in the region as a world-class science hub, serve the nation, and contribute to the global community.
To ensure the fairness of the lottery draws, a number of measures have been put in place. For example, employees of the HKJC’s security and customer service departments inspect and test all materials used for the draws, from boxes to balls, on a regular basis. The balls are also weighed, measured and examined by X-ray after each draw, and the machine is locked in a safe location for storage between draws.
BOCHK STIP is open to all researchers and innovators who have a strong passion for science, and have contributed significantly to the advancement of their respective fields through R&D. This year, the prize was awarded to five Laureates in three categories: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, and New Materials and Energy. The Laureates will be presented with the BOCHK STIP plaque and a cash prize of HK$2 million each.
